MVCC is a specially designed insulated overhead conductor used for medium voltage power distribution, typically in the range of 11 kV to 33 kV. It is an ideal solution for areas prone to high vegetation, wildlife interference, and challenging weather conditions. Unlike bare conductors, MVCC has multiple insulation layers that offer enhanced safety, reduced outages, and lower maintenance. It allows for closer conductor spacing, minimizes the risk of short circuits due to external contact, and ensures uninterrupted power supply even in harsh environments. MVCC is widely used in rural, forested, and coastal areas, as well as in urban zones where reliability and safety are critical.

Construction

The Medium Voltage Covered Conductor (MVCC) is made of All Aluminum Alloy (AAAC) or ACS with Aluminum Alloy, stranded in up to 37 strands for strength and flexibility. The conductor is longitudinally water-tight, preventing moisture ingress and ensuring long-term reliability. It is insulated with three layers: an inner semi-conducting compound (black) for stress control, a middle XLPE layer (natural) for primary insulation, and an outer XLPE sheath (black) with UV resistance and anti-tracking properties for protection against environmental factors. This construction offers enhanced safety and durability in overhead distribution systems.
